October is #TackleHunger Month and the Good Samaritan Ministries’ Food Pantry is challenging Brown County to get in the game with us and collect food items for the Christmas boxes. Every family that comes to the Food Pantry in December will receive one of these boxes in addition to regular grocery staples.

We are asking businesses, schools, churches, clubs and organizations to collect specific food items for the 850 families we anticipate serving this holiday season. Enclosed with this letter is a list of items we will be collecting.  Many of the items like green beans and cornbread mix will take two per Christmas box. Collecting this many items seems like a difficult goal to achieve, but as we work together, we can do this for our friends and neighbors in need.

If your group would like to #TackleHunger, please call us at 325-643-2273 or you can contact [email protected] so that we may add you to our list. Feel free to duplicate the flyer and food list as much as needed.  We can also send you a digital version to use on your organization’s social media.

You may choose to have your food drive run for the entire month of October or just a couple of weeks. The best game plan is what works for you!   Let us know if you need collection boxes.  Also, call us by November 4 if we need to schedule a pick up of your items.

Don’t have space or time to host a food drive? Why not take up a special collection or donation? The cost of the items for a Christmas Box this year is approximately $75.

We would be glad to purchase items for you and let you know, how many items your donation purchased.

Let us know how your  “huddle” is doing so that we can post on our social media. We LOVE sharing how our friends are participating in the fight to #TackleHunger.

Thank you so much for your time, consideration and team spirit as we #TackleHunger here in Brown County.
