Bangs ISD: ‘Unsubstantiated rumor of potential illegal activity’ at secondary campuses

Bangs ISD posted the following on its Facebook page at around 9 p.m. Monday:

“There has been an unsubstantiated rumor of potential illegal activity occurring at Bangs ISD secondary campuses. BISD takes all threats seriously and is working with law enforcement to determine the legitimacy of the rumor. Regardless, there will be increased security and law enforcement presence at BISD campuses until the District is confident that no threat exists.”

BrownwoodNews.com has reached out to the Bangs ISD is awaiting further information and details from the school district.

Noon Update – Bangs ISD posted the following on Facebook:

Bangs ISD has continued to work with law enforcement concerning an alleged threat against BISD, and has determined that there is no basis for the rumor that was posted on social media. Moreover, the person alleged to have made the threat is no longer in the District and is not expected to return. Meanwhile, the District is addressing those who posted the baseless rumor on social media in order to prevent future confusion and ensure the safety of BISD students and staff going forward.
