Brownwood (3-1) visits 4A Division II Waco Connally (3-1) Friday night seeking a fourth win in a row.

The Brownwood Lions made their season debut in the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Class 4A Division I rankings Monday, coming in at No. 10 ahead of their Week 5 match-up at Class 4A Division II Waco Connally.

The Lions (3-1) are in the midst of a three-game win streak, coming off a 17-3 triumph that knocked previously undefeated Glen Rose (3-1) out of the 4A Division II Top 10. Connally (3-1), which is coming off its first loss to China Spring by a 51-21 count, also dropped out of the rankings this week.

Prior to the Lions’ 33-20 victory over Burnet in Week 3, the Lions appeared at No. 6 in the Harris Ratings Weekly 4A Division I rankings but slipped to No. 12 ahead of last week’s win over Glen Rose. The Harris poll comes out later this week.

The rest of the DCTF 4A Division I Top 10 includes No. 1 Stephenville (4-0), No. 2 China Spring (4-0), No. 3 Corpus Christi Calallen (4-0), No. 4 Boerne (4-0), No. 5 Anna (4-0), No. 6 Celina (3-1), No. 7 Lumberton (3-1) No. 8 Dumas (3-1), and No. 9 Somerset (4-0).

In other rankings of local interest, Coleman (3-1) is No. 6 in Class 2A Division I as the Bluecats are coming off a 31-6 loss to undefeated 3A Division I Llano, while Cisco (3-1) is No. 8 and Tolar (4-0) is No. 9.

The May Tigers (4-0) are ranked No. 3 in Class A Division I behind only No. 1 Westbrook (4-0) and No. 2 Abbott (4-0), while the Richland Springs Coyotes (3-0) come in at No. 2 in Class A Division II behind Benjamin (3-0).

May is off this week as its game with San Marcos Academy was canceled, while Richland Springs is coming off a bye and will face Coolidge in Jonesboro Friday night.
