Virginia ‘Pat’ Benson

Virginia “Pat” Benson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 12, 2022. Her funeral service will be 10:00 am Monday, September 19th at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with interment to follow at Bangs Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Pat was born Sunday, September 12, 1937 to Judd and M.E. Davis in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She lived in Hart, Texas for many years. Pat married R. L. Benson in 1956 in Baird, Texas and they began a life together that blessed them with two sons Brad and Kerry. They moved to Bangs where they raised the boys and she lived out the rest of her life. She worked at the Glamour Shops in Brownwood, First State Bank in Bangs, Citizens Bank in Brownwood and Rippetoes for many years. She made many friends working at the banks and Rippetoes. Pat was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bangs.

Pat is survived by her husband of 67 years, R.L. Benson; 2 sons, Brad Benson and wife Janie, Kerry Benson and wife Denise; 4 grandsons, Andy, Justin, Chance and Eric; 2 granddaughters, Jamie and Janell; 8 great-grandchildren, Gunner, Gatlin, Gracie, Lyla, Brynli, Aubri, Chazney and Jagher; sister Edna Kittrell; brother-in-law Tom McLain; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Judd and M.E. Davis; brother Loyd Davis; sister Laverne McLain; brother-in-law Jerry Kittrell.
