
The three Brownwood Lions subvarsity football teams improved to a combined 8-1 on the season by sweeping their three foes Thursday. Reports on each game are as follows:
JV Lions 34, Burnet 6
The Brownwood JV Lions improved to the 3-0 on the season with a 34-6 victory over Burnet at Gordon Wood Stadium.
Brownwood’s three-headed rushing attack included Noah Gonzalez, who scored three touchdowns and finished with well over 100 yards for the third straight game, while Jaiden Gordon and Kaleb Grabast both tacked on their first rushing scores of the year.
Quarterback Braeden Stacks completed all but one pass and added 30 yards on the ground.
Leading the receivers was Case Burnett with two catches for 43 yards.
Arturo Vaquero chipped in four extra points in the win.
Defensively, Brownwood allowed just one touchdown and denied Burnet on three additional trips to the red zone.
Up front, Weston Wolf, Jamareia Harlman, Daylon McGee, and Robert Trombridge helped shut down the run. Zakk Zabecki and Gonzalez had multiple tackles at linebacker and the secondary of Trae Jones, Jack Field, Ross Strasner, Gray Stewardson, and Kenyan McDowell came up with big plays on several occasions.

Freshman Lions 35, Burnet 6
The Brownwood Freshman Lions secured their third consecutive victory without a defeat, rolling past Burnet, 35-6, at Gordon Wood Stadium.
The Lions opened the scoring with a 9-yard touchdown run by Aiden Driskill and Eliuth Valenciano tacked on the extra point for a 7-0 lead.
Burnet answered with its only touchdown, but the Lions turned away the two-point try to maintain a 7-6 edge.
Brownwood boosted its lead to 14-6 just before halftime on a 34-yard scamper to end zone by Driskill, and Valenciano again converted the PAT.
On the Lions’ first play of the second half, Robbie Robinson connected with Carson Noe on a 64-yard touchdown pass to increase the cushion to 21-6 after Valenciano’s kick.
Brownwood added two more insurance touchdowns in the fourth period as Robinson scored on a 2-yard carry and Levi Pearson contributed a 37-yard scoring sprint. Valenciano added extra points after both trips to the end zone.
Defensive standouts included Reese Bishop (9 tackles), Noe (5 tackles), Durham Brown (4 tackles and 2 passes broken up), Robinson (4 tackles), and Brinson Martin (3 tackles, 2 for loss).

Combined Team 28, Eastland 24
EASTLAND – The Brownwood Combined Team bounced back from its first loss of the season to Comanche last week with a 28-24 road triumph over Eastland Thursday.
All four of the Lions’ touchdowns were on passing plays from Dallas Shumaker to Aiden Pena.
Top defensive players were Stephen Rodriguez with a forced fumble, Jonathan Bush with a fumble recovery, Kadyn Avalos with two sacks, and Treyvon Mitchel.
Next week, the Brownwood subvarsity teams are slated to head to Glen Rose.
