Donald Ray Spivey, 87, of De Leon, TX, passed from this life, at his home, Friday August 18, 2022. Arrangements are with Heartland Funeral and Cremations of Comanche. A memorial service, with military honors to celebrate his life, will be held 1 p.m. Thursday September 8, 2022, at the Heartland Chapel with Bro. Gerald Burns officiating. Condolences to the family can be left online at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net

Donald was born December 31, 1934, at his family’s home in Comanche, to Roy and Ada (Hicks) Spivey. After graduating from high school and attending college for a short period, Donald worked and retired from Moorman’s in Comanche, and then worked, and retired a second time, from Hondo Boots. He also served in the United States Army beginning 1954 and being Honorably Discharged in 1956. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, playing dominoes and cards, and being a “disc jockey”.

Donald is survived by Pat Welch; sons, David Glen Spivey and wife Cathy, Richard Spivey and partner Lorie, and Neil Spivey; grandchildren, Donald, Victor, Tamara, and Crissy; 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; nephew, Lannie and Liz Butler; extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by parents, Roy Spivey and Ada (Hicks) Spivey, sister, Billie Butler.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, Comanche Unit, 804 W Wright, Comanche TX 76844, or the giver’s choice of charity.
