The Brownwood Police Department issued the following press release Monday morning:

On Friday, August 26, at approximately 6:50 a.m. officers were called to the area of Brady Avenue and 5th Street regarding a report of Theft of a Motor Vehicle. The victim reported to dispatch that known suspects, 19-year-old Amber Dawn Watson and 20-year-old Kaden Laine Slayton-Boyd stole his black SUV.

Officers James Wells and Logan Humphries responded to the area and as they drove on Brady Ave, they observed the suspect vehicle approach. The vehicle abruptly turned into an alleyway and came to a stop.

Officers were able to call out the driver and when detained, identify her as Watson. Another female was located inside the vehicle and was found to not be involved in the theft. Boyd was not located in the vehicle.

The victim was contacted and informed officers that Watson phoned him prior to the theft and asked for a ride. When he arrived to pick her up, Boyd climbed into the back seat and before they left, Boyd pointed a pistol at his back and demanded the vehicle. The victim exited the vehicle and Watson drove from the scene.

Watson was transported to the Brown County Jail and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

On Sunday, August 28, at approximately 3 p.m. officers Wells and Humphries were again in the area of Brady Avenue and 5th Street when the observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle associated with Boyd. Officers contacted a residence in the 600 block of 5th Street and were able to locate and detain Boyd. A warrant for his arrest for Aggravated Robbery was confirmed and Boyd was transported to the Brown County Jail.

Once at the jail, Boyd was additionally charged with Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility after a small baggy containing suspected methamphetamine was located in his shoe.
