Lady Lions cross country places third in season debut at Jim Ned

TUSCOLA – The Brownwood Lady Lions opened their cross country season with a third-place performance at the Jim Ned Warpath Invitational Saturday morning.

The Lady Lions recorded 80 points which trailed only host and meet champion Jim Ned (46 points) and Ballinger (68 points).

Leading the charge for the Brownwood girls was Sidney Windham (13:10.59) in ninth place, followed by Braycee Lee (11th, 13:25.15), Kate Tindol (14th, 13:30.52), Talia Craft (20th, 13:48. 31), Kylea Karnes (26th, 14:01.06), Miranda Northcutt (34th, 14:15.96), Alma Bernal (37th, 14:23.96), Mia Lara (39th, 14:29.34), Haylee Adkins (59th, 15:01.31), Jasmine Rivas (103rd, 16:31.68), Myra Vargas (123rd, 17.30.24), and Ashley Robinson (146th, 20:31.83)

Making their season debut as well Saturday morning, the Brownwood Lions had four runners compete in the varsity portion of the Jim Ned Warpath Invitational.

Running for the Lions were Luke Gray (30th, 19:09.06), Braylon Harvey (84th, 22:34.56), Noah Pyle (101st, 23:29.72), and Ty Tindol (124th, 16:14.68).

The Bangs Lady Dragons placed 10th as a team in the varsity girls portion of the Jim Ned Invitational.

Competing for Bangs were Rylie Guerrero (27th, 14:03.0), Joey Newton (33rd, 14:12.71), Meloney Diaz (67th, 15:10.4), Gentry Sheppard (69th, 15:17.68), Gabby Zapata (96th, 16:22.4), Olivia Kelly (97th, 16:24.34), and Keeli Gordon (127th, 17:44.37).

All three teams will be back in action Aug. 31 at the Brownwood Invitational.
