The Texas Department of Public Safety has released information concerning a traffic fatality in Brown County which happened at 9:21 pm Friday, July 29.

According to the DPS report, the wreck was on Farm to Market Road 585, three miles northwest of Bangs.

The driver of a 2008 GMC Sierra pickup, Jesse Joe Guerrero, 53 of Coleman, was killed in the accident. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace, Ted Perez, Precinct 4 Brown County.

Preliminary information revealed the driver was operating a pickup truck at a speed unsafe for the roadway condition approaching a curve in the road. Due to its operated speed, the driver was unable to remain in control to safely negotiate the curve and drove off the north side of the road, overturning and striking a tree. The report indicates no seat belt was worn.

The accident was investigated by DPS Trooper John D. Hoy of Brownwood with assistance from DPS Trooper Tyler Moses of Coleman.
