Cary Douglas Roberts

Cary Douglas Roberts, age 76, of Coleman, died Sunday, July 10, 2022, at Coleman County Medical Center.  The family will host a visitation on Wednesday, July 13, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Mitchell, pastor of Concho Baptist Church, officiating. There will be a Masonic service at the end of the chapel service.  Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman.

Doug Roberts was born December 25, 1945, in Coleman, Texas, a son of Cary Altis Roberts and Velma Pauline Landers Roberts Stanley.  He grew up in Coleman and graduated from Coleman High School in 1964.  He served for several years in the National Guard.  On November 5, 1990, he married Connie Lynn Wall in Jal, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on August 18, 2019.  He moved to Coleman from Kermit in 1994.  He was an operator for Enron for over 20 years and after moving to Coleman he worked at the Shopping Baskit.  He was a 32nd Degree Mason and past Master of the Coleman Masonic Lodge #496.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his roses.  He was Baptist.

He is survived by three children, Shelley Haines and husband Randy of Seguin, David Vaughn and wife Marci of Albany, Oregon, and Terry Hutton of Coleman; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; sister, Paula Moten of Fort Worth;  sister-in-law, Isabell Roberts of Coleman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Jack Roberts.

The family suggest that memorials be made to the Coleman Humane Society.
