Local COVID Cases Increase This Week / None Hospitalized

In the last seven days, the Brownwood/Brown County Health Department received 68 positive COVID-19 test results. Of the 68 positives this week, 15 were PCR, and 53 were antigen. Of the total number of cases reported this week, 19 cases met the breakthrough definition. This includes asymptomatic, mild symptoms, and severe symptom breakthrough cases.

There are 0 people currently hospitalized in Brown County for COVID-19.

No new deaths have been reported this week.

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering COVID testing at their clinic located at 510 E. Lee Street. Testing is by appointment only. If you need to be tested for COVID, please do not walk into the clinic. Testing will be conducted at your vehicle in the parking lot. To make an appointment for a COVID test, call: 325-430-7603 or 325-643-3793.

COVID-19 Vaccinations for Brown County:

  • People with at least one dose – 17,885
  • People fully vaccinated – 16,003
  • Boosters administered – 5,796
  • Percentage of people 6 month+ fully vaccinated – 42.02 %

*Please note: The percentage of individuals vaccinated is lower than previously reported due to the inclusion of the six month to five years age demographic in the total eligible population.*

The Brownwood-Brown County Health Department is offering free COVID-19 vaccinations to all youth ages 5 years or older and adults ages 18 years old or older. Vaccination boosters are also available. Vaccinations are available by appointment at the Health Department. Please call 325-646-0554 to schedule an appointment for a vaccine.

Weekly updates are made to the total case count as new positive results are received; however, depending on the illness onset date and/or test date given in the report, the case may no longer be infectious. If a case is not considered infectious, it will not be included in the active case count number. Department staff can be reached at 325-643-3793 to answer any questions regarding how case stats are calculated.
