A Juneteenth Festival will take place Saturday, June 18 at Cecil Holman Park and will consist of the following:

  • Car Show and more at 10:30 a.m.
  • 3rd annual brunch at 11 a.m. (The Vault, 113 E. Baker)
  • Kirk Memorial Basketball Tournaments at the Houston Community Center, Cecil Holman Park Courts and the Gym
  • Ultimate Groove Band at 9 p.m. at the Cecil Holman Park Courts

The following was posted on the Juneteenth Festival Facebook page:

Praying traveling mercies to all who are coming in this weekend. May everyone enjoy being in the city this weekend and make wonderful memories. As these past few years have been challenging on many levels this is an opportunity to change the atmosphere in many ways. As always it’s a choice for everyone to see the good/best of find the negative.

I challenge everyone to look for the good/best this weekend everywhere. Also as in wars of past the fighting parties called a truce to collect their dead. Lets call a truce to strife of the past and enjoy life with each other. May you laugh till your belly hurts, May you smile till your face hurts and dance like no ones looking.

A ceasefire (or truce), also spelled cease fire (the antonym of ‘open fire’), is a temporary stoppage of a war in which each side agrees with the other to suspend aggressive actions.

May you have a blessed weekend and to the fathers.

“HAPPY FATHER’S DAY”
