Early, Bangs combine for 15 all-district baseball honors

Ten Early Longhorns and five Bangs Dragons were selected to the 8-3A baseball all-district squad, which was recently revealed.

The lone superlative winner from Brown County was Early’s Cayden Laird, who was tabbed the Pitcher of the Year.

Chosen for the first team were Early first baseman Bradly Roman, infielders John-Stewart Gordon and Jeremy Brown, and outfielders Rylie Hill and Franky Villareal.

For Bangs, landing on the first team were infielder Ethan Ethridge and outfielder Guy Powell.

Selected to the second team from Early were catcher Caleb McCullough, infielder Gavin Sanders and outfielder Tucker Hale.

Second-team selections for Bangs included outfielders Skylar Minshew and Weston Jundt.

Honorable mention selections included Bangs Kade Minshew and Early’s Ki Houston and Jaxyn Price.

The rest of the district superlative honors included MVP Peyton Shaffer from Brock, Offensive Players of the Year Sawyer Stosnider from Brock and Aldo Cavillo from Millsap; Defensive Player of the Year Miguel Martinez from Comanche; Newcomer of the Year Cooper Massey from Brock; Utility Player of the Year Tyler Moody from Brock; and Brock was also named Coaching Staff of the Year.

Comprising the rest of the first-team picks were pitchers Ian Fuchs of Brock, Tristan Boedeker of Brock, Christ Teten of Dublin, and Hudson Welch of Comanche; catcher Luke Stills of Brock; infielders Cam Harris of Brock, Parker McCullough of Peaster and Trey Jackson of Peaster; designated hitter Wyatt Albritton of Brock; and outfielders Tye Arden of Brock and Caden Duer of Peaster.

The remainder of the second team featured pitchers Dusty Baker of Brock, Kevin Harris of Eastland, Beidan Cox of Millsap, and Ayden Fishback of Comanche; catcher Gavin Boedeker of Brock; first baseman Cooper Pickett of Dublin; infielders Layden Welch of Comanche, Kevin Patton of Dublin, Daniel Gomez of Peaster, and Jace Riggs of Millsap; designated hitter Caden Steen of Peaster; and outfielder Hunter Hodges of Brock.

Early, under head coach Eddie Pettit, finished the season with a 18-6 record, second in District 8-3A at 12-2, and were bi-district finalists.

Bangs went 5-16 on the season with a 1-13 district mark and missed the playoffs under head coach J.T. Newton.
