Pushing President Biden to Protect States from Border Invasion

This week, I joined my fellow Republican lawmakers in urging the President to uphold his Constitutional duty to protect states—starting with Texas—from an invasion at our southern border.

Since Biden became President, there have been 2.6 million illegal border encounters, reports of cartel members violently shooting at border enforcement officers, and more than 100,000 fatal overdoses in the U.S. from fentanyl that is largely smuggled across our border with Mexico.

The President is bound by his oath to the United States Constitution to protect the states from this escalating crisis of violence, drugs, criminal activity, and human trafficking executed by dangerous individuals crossing into our country illegally.

The border crisis continues to escalate, rupturing our communities and taking American lives. Sitting only 100 miles from the southern border, our district has suffered from the consequences of this dangerous invasion.

We deserve better, and I will continue to push forward common-sense legislation to secure our country and ensure the lives and livelihoods of those in Texas-11 remain safe.

Thank you, Jan!

We are so proud of Jan Lentz (LCSW), from our San Angelo office, for volunteering her counseling expertise and compassion to the grieving community in Uvalde with West Texas Counseling & Guidance.

Jan was also awarded a plaque of recognition by the Vietnam Veterans in San Angelo for the time and energy she dedicates to our local veterans.

Thank you, Jan, for the hard work you do in our community both in and out of the office. We are blessed to know you and work with you!

Record High Gas Prices

Gas prices reached a national average of $4.72 per gallon this week — another record high and nearly double what they were when President Biden took office at the beginning of last year.

Additionally, President Biden has been pushing for more foreign production while tying the hands of our American oil and gas producers here at home..

The President should be rolling back regulatory barriers, increasing investment in our oil and gas infrastructure, and unleashing American energy exports. Energy from the Permian Basin – not Russia – should fuel the world! That is why I introduced the Midland over Moscow Act and the American Energy Freedom Act, you can learn more about each bill here and here.

Protecting our Critical Infrastructure

This week, we learned that the Federal Bureau of Investigation identified an attempted cyber-attack on the Boston Children’s Hospital as having been perpetrated by hackers working for the Iranian government.

Additionally, malicious foreign actors, including Russian hackers, have been probing the systems of American energy companies and other critical infrastructure projects, posing a significant threat to our national security.

In response, I introduced the Cyber Deterrence and Response Act to fortify our critical infrastructure and put the safety of Americans first. My bill will force the Biden Administration to respond to any cyberattack from foreign enemies with forceful sanctions. Any type of attack on American soil will not be tolerated.

Read more about my bill here.

Townhall on Monday!

On Monday, I will be hosting a Town Hall in Coleman at the Coleman Public Library. I hope you will join me to hear an update about the work happening in Congress, and to share your thoughts and ideas on current events affecting our district.

As always, all members of the public and press are welcome. I look forward to seeing you there! You can find all event details below:
