Shy Massey, age 63, of Hockley formerly of Zephyr passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral Services for Shy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Hall officiating; burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Shy was born on September 4, 1958, to John and Margaret (McFadden) Heard in Crane, Texas. She attended Brownwood High School. She worked at Underwoods and Wal-Mart for several years.

She loved animals; she was an avid horse lover. She was a “home remedy vet”, nursing many animals back to health from the brink of death. Shy also was a people person, never meeting a stranger. She was a loving and non-judgmental person. Shy loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her daughter and family were her everything. She took care of her family all the way to the end.

Shy is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Carroll and husband Tim of Hockley; 2 grandchildren, Courtney Carroll of Magnolia and Austin Carroll of Hockley; 2 great-children, Elijah and Easton Weichert of Magnolia; her first love, Gary Massey of Brownwood; stepchildren she loved as her own, Keith Thate of Hamilton, Angie Newton of Hamilton, and Shanna Thate of Hamilton. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Heard; and maternal grandparents, Henry and Lolly McFadden.

Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
