AUSTIN – Bangs Lady Dragon senior Maggie Morales placed ninth in the UIL Class 3A girls state triple jump competition Thursday afternoon with a leap of 34-11.75 at the University of Texas’ Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.

Morales, who came in with the ninth-best regional performance among the qualifiers, recorded her best jump at state on the last of her six attempts.

Kyla Hill of Goliad captured the state title with a top performance of 39-1.75 followed by silver medalist Brianna St. Louis of University City Randolph (38-5.5) and bronze medalist Yierra Flemings of Cameron Yoe (38-1.5).

Earlier Thursday, Morales finished seventh in the 3A girls long jump with a best effort of 17-4.5.
