Brownwood’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration slated for May 6

The Arts Council of Brownwood’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration returns to downtown Brownwood, Friday May 6, from 5-11:30 pm. It is being presented this year by BrownwoodTX, Feels Like Home and Visit Early/Visit Often.

This year’s celebration offers 5 stages and will stretch nine city blocks along Center Ave and include over 90 shopping and food vendors. There will be a Children’s World, motorcycle/car show, and Wine Garden venue as well as many contests! More information can be found at  cincodemayocelebration.com. Tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased at the website as well.

Some of the events this are as follows:

Wine Garden

Come taste selections from local wineries at The Wine Garden at this year’s will be located in large tents to the side of the Courthouse on Center Ave!  It is branded by Visit Brownwood and Visit Early/Visit Often and operated by the Brown County Museum of History! Wine garden tickets are $25 in advance and can be purchased online or in person at KOXE or Wendlee Broadcasting or $35 after May 5th and at the entrance.

Each ticket will get you 2 tastings from each of the six wineries. 

The first 250 attendees will receive a souvenir wine tote and wine glass.

Children’s World

The Arts Council of Brownwood invites you to bring your FAMILY down to the Andy’s Pest Troopers Children’s World at this year’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration. It will be located next to Landmark Admin offices on Center Ave. There will be NO charge with bounce houses, face painting, and all sorts of children’s activities

Contests

Think you are the best dancer? Can eat the hottest jalapeño? Make the best Sangria or salsa? Be the best singer?

The Arts Council of Brownwood invites you to bring your talent to this year’s Cinco de Mayo Celebration. There will be a minimal $5 charge for some contests and PRIZES will be awarded!

Contests

Cinco de Mayo Jalepeño Eating Contest

Event begins at 8:30pm at the Main Stage (Corner of Center and Baker). Contestants must arrive by 8:15pm. Late arrivals will not be allowed to participate and will not be refunded. There is an entry fee of $5. There will be a prize for the winner.

Cinco de Mayo Grito Contest

Event begins at 9:00pm at the Main Stage (Corner of Center and Baker). Contestants must arrive by 8:45pm. There is a male and female division. There is no entry fee for this contest until the day of. Walk-up’s will be charged $5. There will be a prize for the winner.

Cinco de Mayo Sangria Contest

Event begins at 7:30pm at 10 Mile Productions (401 Center Ave). Contestants must arrive by 7:15pm. Late arrivals will not be able to participate and will not be refunded. There is an entry fee of $5. There will be a prize for the winner.

Cinco de Mayo Salsa Contest

Event begins at 5:30 pm at Tres Leches (201 E Baker Street). Contestants must arrive by 5:15pm. Late arrivals will not be able to participate and will not be refunded. There is an entry fee of $5. There will be a prize for the winner.
