Karen Kay Lancaster

Funeral services for Karen Lancaster, age 72, of Brownwood, will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the De Leon Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Karen passed from this life on Friday, April 15, 2022.

Karen Kay Willson was born on September 16, 1949, in Aransas Pass to Robert and Katherine (Parker) Willson.  She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1967 and went on to Howard Payne University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education.  She later earned her Master of Education from Abilene Christian University.  Karen gave over 35 years of service to children as an Educational Diagnostician, teacher for early childhood and special education.  She was currently working for The Taylor Clinic, still helping children.

Karen enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing the piano, loved to travel, dancing and anything to do with spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.

Karen is survived by her husband of 32 years, Kenneth Lancaster; her children, Cory Howard and wife Danielle, Casey Howard, Christy Stafford and husband Ron, Craig Lancaster and wife Debbie, and Ross Carter and wife Paula; grandchildren, Parker Howard, Aidan Howard, Paige Jones and her husband CJ; her sister, Kathy and husband Gene Doss, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of treasured friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents.

The family requests memorials be made in Karen’s memory to the Corrine T. Smith Animal Center, 3016 Milam Drive, Brownwood, Texas, 76801.
