KXYL News Talk 102.3 recently posted the following on its Facebook page:

Hop on down to the 12th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt April 16

It is going to be a hoppin’ good time at the 12th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt — hosted by Wendlee Broadcasting and sponsored by United Supermarkets— on Saturday, April 16 at Coggin Park.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon, with the hunts — divided into age groups from pre-kindergarten to third grade — beginning at 11 a.m.

The event has been rebooted this year after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. More than 2,000 children are expected to attend this year.

Wendlee Broadcasting General Manager Rex Tackett never doubted The Great Easter Egg Hunt would return and be around for years to come, and the event continues to grow year after year.

“The 12th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt is the community’s biggest event for the young children of Brown County. Eggs, candy, hot dogs, bounce houses, games and the Easter Bunny,” Tackett said. “What could be more fun?”

More than 25,000 pieces of candy and eggs will be spread across Coggin Park, courtesy of United Supermarkets.

Volunteer groups and organizations and students assist during the event helping with activities and setting candy and eggs out for the hunts.

“Key Clubs and cheer squads pitch-in stuffing plastic eggs with candy,” Tackett said. “We couldn’t do all this without their help. It isn’t just us, there are people from all over community that pitch in.”

Along with the egg hunt, there will be inflatable bounce houses and slides, hot dogs, drinks, a car show, and vehicles from the Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Lifeguard Ambulance on display. There will also be lawn mower races and classic cars courtesy of the Heartland Cruisers.

Of course, count on the Easter Bunny to be greeting the children and posing for pictures.

“Come on out and have some fun with us,” Tackett said. “It will be lots of fun, lots of things to do.”

To ad to the fun, KQBZ-FM 96.9, The Breeze, and KXYL NewsTalk 102.3 will be broadcasting live.

Sponsors include Farmers & Merchants Bank, Hendrick Medical Center, La Botana Mexican Grill, Potter’s Pizza, Ranger College, The Hen House; the Brown County Museum of History, Lehnis Railroad Museum, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Brownwood Nutrition, Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, KANAR RV Sales & Service, Leon River Mercantile, Mathew Williams State Farm Insurance, Recharge Massage Therapy, Smile Doctors, Sonic, TXR Railway/TNW Logistics and Xtreme Jump.
