Ronald E. Winters, 75, of Santa Anna, died Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his residence.  He was born Ronald Eugene Winters on December 11, 1946 in Greeley, Colorado to Huldrich R. Winters and Velma Ann Tippin Winters.  Ronald grew up and attended school in Greeley.  He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967 and was stationed in Vietnam for two years.  After his honorable discharge from the Army, Ronald returned to Colorado and spent many years as an over the road truck driver.  He later went to work for Asplundh Services as a highline tree trimmer.

On May 11, 1997, Ronald married Donna Jones in LaSalle, Colorado.  They later moved to Lake Brownwood and moved to Santa Anna in 2007.  While living in Colorado, Ronald loved to hunt deer.  He would also travel to Kansas to hunt pheasant.  Ronald collected and traded many long and short guns over the years and even did his own reloading of ammunition.  In the spring, he could be found getting the ground ready to plant his vegetable garden.  He also enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets.

Preceding him death are his parents, five sisters, Darlene Burbach, Gaye Codswell, Mary Hodson, Charlene Bickhaus, Donna Schulze and a step-grandson, Randen Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Winters of Santa Anna; one daughter, Roni Jean Winters of Longview; three grandchildren, Derrick Winters and wife, Jasmine, of Longview, Rebekah Winters of Longview, Devin Winters of Oregon; one brother, Richard (Dick) Winters of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Joy Schott of LaSalle, Colorado; one step-son, Barry Roney and wife, Amanda of Coleman and sister-in-law, Terrilyn Taylor of Novice.  Also surviving are several great grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

There are no services planned.  It was Ronald’s desire to be cremated and his ashes be scattered on the mountains of Colorado that he enjoyed hunting on so much.  Remembrance and condolences can be expressed to the family in the guestbook at the funeral home or the virtual guestbook on Ronald’s tribute page at www.stevensfuneralhome.com/obituary/Ronald-Winters.  Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Winters family.
