GLEN ROSE – The Brownwood Lady Lions erased a four-run deficit, but surrendered seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning en route to a 12-9 loss to District 6-4A front-runner Glen Rose Friday night.

The loss was the 10th in a row for the Lady Lions (8-13, 0-5), who are still seeking their first league victory with only three games remaining in the regular season.

The Lady Lions finished with 10 hits – two each by Chloe Walls, Annie-Klein Allgood and Chelsey Covey, and one apiece by Mia Lopez, Cecilia Rodriguez, Hailey Eisenhauer and Marian Soto. Walls finished with three RBIs while Allgood, Rodriguez, Eisenhauer and Tynlea Wilson chipped in one apiece.

In the circle, Allgood yielded 12 runs on 18 hits with three strikeouts.

Down 4-0 in the top of the fourth, Rodriguez and Eisenhauser both reached on errors, the second coming with two outs. Soto then walked to load the bases ahead of an RBI walk by Peyton Pena and a two-RBI single from Walls that closed the gap to 4-3. Lopez reached on another Glen Rose (18-4, 5-0) miscue that allowed Pena and Walls to score and give Brownwood a 5-4 edge. Allgood followed by tripling home Lopez.

Brownwood boosted its lead to 7-4 in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Eisenhauer that knocked in Covey, who started the frame with a base hit.

Glen Rose clawed back and reclaimed an 11-7 lead in the bottom of the fifth, while the Lady Lions tacked on a run in the sixth on Rodriguez’s RBI double, and the seventh on Walls’ RBI single.

The Lady Lions are back in action at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday when they host Lampasas.
