Several BHS students place in top six at UIL Academic and Speech competitions

In March, Brownwood High School students competed at the UIL District 6-4A Academic and Speech Competitions. The following students placed in the top six of their events:

  • Spelling: Claire Clayton – 2nd place

  • Copy Editing: Claire Clayton – 4th place

  • Science: Aishwarya Nigalye – Top Biology; 4th place overall

  • Mathematics: Aishwarya Nigalye – 5th place

  • Accounting:

    • Brianna Castaneda – 4th place

    • Chloey Guthrie – 6th place

    • Brownwood (Team) – 2nd place

  • Feature Writing: Kali Alvizo – 2nd place

  • Ready Writing: Rylie Schaffer – 2nd place

  • Headline Writing: Brooke Minchey – 5th place

  • Editorial Writing: Kali Alvizo – 6th place

  • Informative Speaking: Brogan Hagood – 4th place

  • Poetry Interpretation: Kate Yantis – 2nd place

  • Prose Interpretation: Alexia Potter – 6th place

Students that finished in the top three will advance to the Regional Academic contest in Lubbock on April 22-23. The students were coached by the following high school teachers: Brooklyn Britton, Brittany Martin, Justin Moore, Joanna Young, Stacee Hetzel, Cherita Munguia, Shannon Lee, and Kenan Boland.
