STEPHENVILLE – The Brownwood Lady Lions are still seeking their first District 6-4A softball victory at the midway point of the league slate after dropping a 7-3 decision at Stephenville Tuesday night.

The loss was the ninth in a row for Brownwood (8-12, 0-4), which is currently on the outside looking in at the postseason picture with Stephenville (9-13, 1-3) taking over sole possession of fourth place in 6-4A.

Brownwood surrendered four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but cut the deficit in half after three and a half frames. Down 4-2, the Lady Lions yielded three more runs in the bottom of the fourth and and mustered just one more the rest of the way.

The six-hit attack for the Lady Lions included two each from Cecilia Rodriguez and Chelsey Covey, who drove in a run; one hit and an RBI from Chloe Walls; and one hit from Mackenzie Welch.

In the circle, Annie-Klein Allgood yielded three earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The Brownwood defense committed three errors.

Brownwood begins the second half of league action at 6:30 p.m. Friday with a trip to 6-4A front-runner Glen Rose.
