The following fishing reports are provided by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the week of March 23:
LAKE BROWNWOOD
Fishing is slow. Water stained; 53-56 degrees; 2.29 feet low.
Black bass are slow with catches up to 5.5-pounds in the main lake in 8-10 feet of water in the bushes on crankbaits, and in 2-7 feet of water in bushes on spinnerbaits, and spinnerbaits or senkos up the rivers.
White bass are slow on Lit’l Fishies and crankbaits in 12-16 feet of water, and minnow or jigs under the lights.
Crappie are good with catches up to 1.5-pounds in 8-14 feet of water using minnows, and black/chartreuse or red/white jigs.
Channel catfish are slow with 3-5 pounds catches coming with cut shad and trotlines.
Yellow catfish are slow on trotlines baited with perch and Goldfish.
Blue catfish are good with catches up to 8-pounds using cut perch or Shad on jug lines.
LAKE CISCO
Fishing is good. Water clear; 45 degrees; 3.75 feet low.
Crappie are good on minnows and jigs.
Bass are good on Rat-L-Traps and divers.
Blue catfish are good on earthworms.
LAKE COLEMAN
Fishing is fair. Water slightly stained; 48 degrees 1.98 feet low. Few anglers on the lake but fishing should pick up as the spring weather sets in. Rough wind.
Largemouth bass are good in deeper water using umbrella rigs.
Crappie deep water.
LAKE O.H. IVIE
Fishing is GREAT. Water clear; 50-54 degrees; 16.5 feet low. The warmer water is found up the rivers.
Channel catfish with a few blue catfish mixed in are good on prepared baits in 41 feet of water.
Bass are good on jerkbaits, swimbaits, and Texas rigs in 10-25 feet of water starting to transition shallow.
Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. Looking for the crappie to start the transition soon.
LAKE PROCTOR
Fishing is fair. Water clear; 56 degrees; 1.96 feet low. Fishing is improving as the weather warms.
Crappie are fair in 12-15 feet of water on minnows.
Sand bass are fair on slabs.
Hybrid stripers are slow.
Black bass are slow.
Catfish are fair in the Rush Creek area.
