The Brownwood Lady Lions softball team opened the District 6-4A campaign with its sixth consecutive defeat, falling by a 12-0 count to the Glen Rose Lady Tigers.

The Lady Lions (8-9, 0-1) were limited to just four hits, struck out 12 times, and committed seven errors.

Defending 6-4A champion Glen Rose (14-4, 1-0), meanwhile, compiled five runs in the first inning, three each in the second and third frames and added its last run in the top of the fifth.

Jeniffer Romero, Annie-Klein Allgood, Chelsey Covey, and Chloe Walls all singled for Brownwood, while Marian Soto reached base when she was hit by a pitch.

In the circle, Allgood yielded nine earned runs on 12 hits with one strikeout and four walks.

For Glen Rose, Catalina Sanchez tallied three hits, including a double, and four RBIs; Mallory Goff finished with two hits and five RBIs; and Kaycee Bock chipped in three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run.

Addison Nance went the distance in the circle for Glen Rose

The Lady Lions are back in action at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Lampasas.
