SALSA, the Strategic Alliance for Leadership and Social Action, recently elected officers for the 2022-2024 term. Officers elected were: Raul Martinez President, Chuck Gebhardt Vice President, Elizabeth Vega Secretary, and Deanna Gonzalez and Angie Gomez Co-Treasurers. Under their leadership, SALSA will pursue a very pro-active agenda including events and advocacy.

In 2022, SALSA will host the inaugural dinner celebrating the birthday of the legendary labor and civil rights leader, the late Cesar E. Chavez, celebrate El Cinco de Mayo on May 7, and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month September 15-October 15.

In conjunction with the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute, SALSA will present $10,000 in Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarships to students in the Brownwood area.

Throughout the year, SALSA leaders will continue working with city officials advocating for additional improvements to Wiggins Park and the Valley View Addition.
