Ramon Martinez DeHoyos, age 88, of Brownwood, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, March 12, 2022, at his home surrounded by loving family.

He was born January 15, 1934, in El Pilar, Mexico, the son of Jose Maria Martinez and Julia (DeHoyos) Martinez. He was married to Celia Arizpe in Mexico on February 5, 1954. He had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 40 years working as a ranch hand most of his life. He loved the outdoors and working with the animals. He loved his family and being with them. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of Brownwood, two daughters, Maribel Vielma and husband Amado and Bertha Perez and husband Juan Alejo, four sons, Jesus Martinez, Jose Maria Martinez and wife Josefina, Norlberto Martinez and wife Maria, Jorge Luis Martinez and wife JoAnn. His grandchildren include Jayme McEntire and husband Michael, Jennifer Martinez, Junior Martinez, Jose Martinez and wife Sarah, Lydia Martinez, Vanessa Vielma, Adrian Vielma, Alex Vielma, Stephanie Castaneda and husband John, and Elizabeth Perez, Mayra Thomas and husband Joshua, Nolberto Martinez Jr., Aracely Martinez, and Ana Buitron, Juan Martinez and wife Juany, Lourdes Martinez, and Jesus Martinez and wife Marissa, great-grandchildren, Jace, Jordan, Savannah, Noah, Addison, Mason, Abby, Bella, Sophia, Amy, Ariana, Emiliano, Stacy, Juan Jr., Eric, Armando, and Jackie.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 17, at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Heritage Funeral Home Davis – Morris Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 with rosary recited at 7 PM.
