Richard H. McHan, age 72, of Bangs, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, surrounded by his family at St. David’s South Austin Medical Clinic in Austin.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be held from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 600 N 3rd Street in Bangs, all family and friends who knew Richard are encouraged to come. Richard will be cremated per his wishes under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood.

Richard was born April 29, 1949, to Kelly “Dick” Richard and Joyce (Foley) McHan in Weslaco, TX. He loved spending weekends with his family, cooking BBQ and making sure everyone had enough to eat. In addition to playing with his grandchildren, he was always working or tinkering with something in or around the house. He had a love for cars, football (especially the Dallas Cowboys), and everything that went with them. Richard and his wife, Judy, recently went on a trip, and the highlights were the Grand Canyon and the Commemorative Air Force Museum in Mesa, AZ.

Richard is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy McHan of Bangs; two sons, Chris McHan and wife April of Johnstown, CO, Nick McHan and wife Felicia of Brownwood; daughter, Brittany Culverhouse and husband Kris of Early; 6 grandchildren, Ethan, Kylie, Megan, Elena, Keagan and Aubrey; 2 brothers, Mark McHan and wife Marsha of Abilene, Bryan McHan and wife Lisa of Odessa; sister, Kelle Abernathy and husband Jay of Woodville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Carrie Megan McHan; and his parents, Dick and Joyce.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
