Lady Dragons, Lady Horns, Longhorns tally district diamond victories

The Bangs Lady Dragons moved to 3-0 in District 8-3A softball action with a 7-3 victory over Comanche Tuesday.

Bangs scored three runs in the top of the second inning, Comanche answered with three in the bottom, the Lady Dragons added three more in the fourth and tacked on their final run in the sixth.

The Lady Dragons tallied just five hits, drew one walk and took advantage of seven Comanche errors. Jacee Miller finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI; McKenzie Hughes tallied a hit and drove in two; Abby Wolf tripled and plated a run; and Neeley Bradley singled and knocked in one.

In the circle, Wolf gave up three runs on 10 hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Also Tuesday, the Early Lady Horns improved to 2-1 in district competition with a 19-0 triumph over Millsap.

Early notched one run in the first inning, 15 in the second and three more in the third, producing 11 hits.

Grace LaRue, Jordyn McIntire and Gabby Leal combined on a no-hitter, striking out six in three innings.

At the plate, Stoney Laughlin and Taylor Summer both homered as part of two-hit, five-RBI performances. Trinity Torrez chipped in three hits and an RBI, Leal and Jordan Simmons added one hit and one RBI apiece, Aubrey Greaves knocked in a pair, and LaRue, McIntire and Teagan Lopez contributed one hit each.

In baseball action, Early defeated Millsap, 12-9, in its league opener, while Bangs fell to Comanche, 15-4, to kick off 8-3A competition.

No further information was available on those games.

Early softball and baseball will host Brock at 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, while Bangs softball and baseball welcomes Millsap for games at the same times.
