According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, a wildfire in Mills County has burned 6,000 acres while a wildfire in Coleman County has burned 5,000 acres as of late Monday night.

The Mills County fire is being called the 3OaksFire, is an estimated 6,000 acres and was 50% contained as of early Tuesday morning.  It appears 6 miles long and 2 miles wide.  Fire behavior had diminished late Monday night.

The Coleman/Runnels County fire is being called the CrewsGapFire is an estimated 5,000 acres and was 20% contained as of late Monday night.  The south side of the fire remained active at that time and crews worked through the night on containment lines.

The National Weather Service says most fires are started by people through outdoor welding, dragging trailer chains and burning of trash and brush. Wildfire activity will be the main concern in this area into next week as dry and breezy conditions will continue.
