The Brownwood Fire Department and Brownwood Police Department responded to the call of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Avenue D shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Members of the fire department extinguished the fire, which caused significant damage to the inside of the structure.

No people were home at the time of the fire, but the owner of the home had been notified and was headed to the scene as of 8 a.m.

An investigation into the cause of the fire was underway. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
