The Howard Payne University softball team split a non-conference double-header 9-1 and 2-10 with Schreiner University Tuesday afternoon.

Game One
The Lady Jackets used four runs in the third and fifth innings to run-rule Schreiner 9-1 in six innings.

With nine total hits, Howard Payne was led by Madison Forrester with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate. Samantha Cantu also posted multiple hits going 2-for-2 in game one. Alexia Perkkio and Deandra Longoria each recorded 2 RBI for the Lady Jackets.

Bree Cason recorded the complete game win for HPU in the circle. Cason allowed just one run on two hits and struckout three.

Game Two
The second game for both teams was one of many errors. HPU recorded four and Schreiner five in the 10-2 Schreiner final.

Madison Forrester and Elaine Gonzalez would get the only two hits for the Lady Jackets.

Isabella Buckley went just one inning in the start for HPU allowing three runs on five hits. Heather Wineman threw 4.0 innings of relief allowing seven runs on six hits. Hannah Morales went the final frame for the Lady Jackets in the circle.

Howard Payne is now 2-11 overall and Schreiner stands at 5-13 on the season. The Lady Jackets will play next on Thursday at Trinity University, in San Antonio a double-header starting at 12:00 noon. HPU will be back at home versus Texas A&M San Antonio on Monday, a double-header starting at 1:00 pm.
