Mary Allen, age 94, of Coleman, died Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman. A private interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Mary Edwards on December 19, 1927, in Coleman to Arthur Edwards and Aileen Dibrell Edwards. Mary grew up in Burkett and graduated from Burkett High School. She married Lawrence Allen on April 14, 1946, in Coleman. Mary lived in La Pryor from 1951 until 2015. Mary loved to work and stay busy. She owned multiple businesses, was vice-president of a bank, and enjoyed being outside. From an early age, Mary loved to drive anything from cars, tractors, and riding lawnmowers. After retiring at the age of eighty-four, Mary enjoyed doing her own yardwork, cooking, and gardening.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Aileen Edwards; her husband Lawrence Allen; her brother, Arthur Edwards; her sister, Charlotte Strawn; and son in law, William Reed.

She is survived by her daughter, Aileen Reed of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; her son, Arthur Lee Allen of Crystal City, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Mary to the Coleman Masonic Lodge #496, 412 W. Liveoak Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.
