Jackets golfers place seventh at UT-Dallas tournament

Howard Payne University’s Kaleb Brown led the Yellow Jackets with a T-7th finish at the DIII Lidlifter at the Clubs of Kingwood hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas this week.

The Yellow Jackets finished seventh overall as a team shooting a 619 (311-308).

Kaleb Brown was the Jackets top finisher with a 146 (75-71) leading the tournament in Par 5 scoring at -7 and was second in birdies with nine.

Jake Angerstein shot a 155 (76-79) to finish T-26th, Kyle Anderson shot a 159 (80-79) finishing T-33rd.

Lucas Kinkade was 35th overall with a 160 (80-80), Brady Nelson was T-36th with a 161 (82-79), and Harrison Hopson shot a 161 (80-81) to tie Nelson in the 36th spot.

The Yellow Jackets will play next at the Hardscrabble Invitational in Fort Smith, AR at the Hardscrabble Golf Club on March 7-8.

WOMEN’S GOLF

The Howard Payne University women’s golf team competed this week at the DIII Lidlifter at the Clubs of Kingwood hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas.

Howard Payne had three individuals compete. Mallory Garcia was the top Lady Jacket finisher shooting a 166 (78-88) over two rounds to finish 16th overall.

Bailey Farmer shot a 200 (108-92) finishing 31st and Amanda Menchaca finished 32nd with a 202 (97-105)

The Lady Jackets will play next at the Texas Cup in Plano, Texas on March 19-20 hosted by the University of Texas at Dallas.
