Howard Payne University invites the community, students, alumni, personnel, friends and more to HPU’s campus for the Spring Family Reunion on Saturday, March 26. The day’s festivities will begin at 2 p.m. and feature outdoor games, food, alumni reunions, a movie screening and a concert featuring HPU alumni David Dewese ’96, James Dunning ’97, Chad Edgington ’97 and Brad Miles ’96.

“We are excited about this free day of fun for all ages on the HPU campus,” said Dr. Kalie Lowrie, assistant vice president for alumni relations. “Our alumni and friends of the university are invited to come to several interactive events. Our goal is to bring the HPU Family together during the spring. From a movie to reunions and culminating in a quality concert featuring several talented HPU alumni, there will be activities for everyone. You won’t want to miss out!”

The event will begin with the Matinee in Mims, a family-friendly movie screening of “The Rookie” (Rated G) at 2 p.m. in L.J. Mims Auditorium. Festivities will continue with the Reunion Celebration, featuring outdoor games, bouncy houses and food trucks, beginning at 4 p.m. at the J. Howard Hodge Memorial Bell Towers. Several alumni chapters and student organizations will host reunion tables, including the African American Alumni Chapter; members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors (past and present); Baptist Student Ministry; Delta Chi Rho; Hispanic Alumni Chapter; Pi Theta Chi; Student Government Association; and Tau Beta Sigma. The event will conclude with the Songwriter Showcase at 7 p.m. in L.J. Mims Auditorium, featuring four alumni musicians who will perform original songs.

Dewese has spent more than 20 years writing and recording music in Nashville, San Diego and now Dallas. He is currently recording his first faith-based album.

Dunning is the frontman for the Americana band Lost Immigrants and has written, co-written and produced nearly a dozen albums and EPs with Texas-based artists.

Edgington has served as the pastor of First Baptist of Olney since August 2013. He enjoys songwriting and has recorded several albums with his wife, Melissa.

Miles has toured with his band Everman and released a solo worship album in 2005. He is currently the lead pastor at First Baptist Church Shallowater.

All events during the HPU Spring Family Reunion are free, but registration is encouraged. Visit www.hputx.edu/familyreunion to register to attend and for more information.
