Dorothy Barker

Dorothy Barker, age 90, passed from this life on January 8, 2022. Graveside services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, January 10th at 2PM in the May Cemetery. Arrangements are under the Direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Dorothy was born on November 7, 1930 in Sherman, Texas. Her parents were E.L. Allen and Rosie Faye Smith. She was raised by her mother and her step-father Cecil Cantrell. She grew up in the Sherman-Dallas area. She met her husband, Max Barker, in Dallas.They were married on July 22, 1949. They had 2 children, Robert Barker and Teresa Cope. Dorothy moved to May, Texas in 1966 with her husband and children. She was a member of the May Methodist Church.

Dorothy was preceded in death by Max, her husband of 72 years, on January 5,2022. She was also preceded by her parents, her brother and sister.

She is survived by her son Robert Barker and wife Cherita, her daughter Teresa Cope and husband Mike. She is also survived by her grandchildren Casey and Heather Barker, Skye and Matt Arrington, Cody Barker, and Chris Guess, and great-grandchildren Kassidy Barker, Hayden Barker and wife Shelby, Rachel Arrington, Anna Arrington,Mattie Arrington, Jaxon Arrington ,and Jonathan Guess.
