UPDATE 10:40 am Saturday – As of 10:40 am the cold front was located between Wichita Falls and Graham, so it looks to arrive a little ahead of schedule into our area this afternoon.  The temperature in Brownwood as of 10:40 am was 64, temperature in Graham 62, temperature in Wichita Falls is 42 and quickly falling.

Original post below.

Brown County area residents will want to stay close to the fireplace or heater Saturday night and Sunday as the strongest cold front of the season arrives late Saturday.

The front is expected to arrive in the Brown County area between 4 and 7 pm Saturday evening, according to KOXE Meteorologist Randy Turner.

“After a high temperature near 70 Saturday afternoon, expect temperatures to drop about 10 degrees per hour immediately after the front arrives.  The temperature, by sunrise Sunday morning, is expected to hover around 20 degrees.  On Saturday night, expect the temperature to be below freezing from about 10 pm through Noon on Sunday, roughly 15 hours of temperatures below freezing,” Turner said.

On top of that will be North wind of 20 to 30 mph meaning the wind chill, or feels-like temperature, Sunday morning will be between 5 and 10 degrees.  High temps on Sunday will hover around 40 degrees then plunge back down to near 20 on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Make sure outdoor faucets are covered and insulated, pets have plenty of food, water and shelter and livestock could use some extra hay and feed too.
