Donald “Donnie” Powell, Sr., age 59, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at a local nursing facility.

Graveside Services for Donnie will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Donald was born on October 14, 1962, to Johnny Sr. and Birtie (Jackson) Powell in Brady. He worked in construction and painting for years before his decline in health sidelined him.

He loved listening to classic rock music. He was a sports fan; he enjoyed watching baseball, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and also liked the Texas Longhorns. Donnie was a jokester, having a great sense of humor.

Donnie is survived by his mother, Birtie Powell of Brownwood; 4 children, Brandy Abb and husband Jeromy of Tulsa, OK, Heather Powell of Brownwood, Donald Powell Jr. of Durant, OK, and Jason Powell of Durant, OK; 6 grandchildren: Megan, Jessie, Alyssa, Matthew, Nicholi, and Ashley; and his siblings: Johnny Powell Jr. of Early, Roy Powell and wife Cathy of Cedar Creek, Tommy Powell of Abilene, Larry Powell and wife Trini of Cleveland, TX, Rodger Powell of Brownwood, Janette Waddle and husband Harold of May. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Powell Sr.; and grandparents.

Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
