Edward Lee Simms, Sr.

Edward Lee Simms, Sr., age 72, of Coleman, died Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Coleman County Medical Center.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Brown Ranch Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Aaron Mitchell, pastor of Concho Baptist Church, officiating. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

Edward was born on September 15, 1949, in Concord, Texas to George Dudley Simms and Ovell Moon Simms. He grew up in Concord where he attended school. Edward served in the United States Navy. He married Robin Laverne Leatherman in 1983 in Houston. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2021.

Edward enjoyed fishing, playing with his dogs, and listening to old country music. He was a truck driver and enjoyed traveling to the locations his job allowed. Edward was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed.

Edward is also preceded in death by his parents, and one great-grandchild, Kelsey Margaret Copeland.

He is survived by his children, Edward Lee Simms, Jr., of Palestine, Timothy Wayne Simms and wife Jennifer of Neches, Corey Daniel Simms of Neches, Tammy Laverne Simms and husband Christopher Burfield of Brownwood; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
