EARLY – The Family Community Services class Big Hearts Crew at Early High School organized a toy drive geared specifically toward pre-teens and teens, collecting approximately 230 items that will be donated to Toys for Kids of Brown County.

“My grandma (Wanda Martin) started Toys for Kids and we were lacking for teens and my grandma doesn’t really know what to get for the teenagers, so I thought it’d be a really good idea if we donated just for the teenagers,” said Big Hearts Crew member Kalynn Prince.

The donations will be delivered to one of the Toys for Kids drop-off sites and the Big Hearts Crew will be volunteering on Saturday, Dec. 18 during distribution day as parents come and pick out Christmas items for their children.

“We started this as a class competition to see who could raise the most,” said Big Hearts Crew member Lexi Petross. “With teenagers, competitions usually bring spirits up and people want to donate. This is all from the high school students or the staff here. A lot of us spent our own money and donated. It took a lot of time, but it was fun.”

Early High School’s Family Community Services class is taught by Amanda Elkins.
