Tim Jacobs

Tim Jacobs, who has occupied Place 7 on the Brownwood ISD Board of Trustees for 12 years, resigned during Monday night’s meeting. The resignation was accepted by BISD Board of Trustees President Michael Cloy and approved unanimously by the remaining board members.

“Mr. Jacobs has submitted his resignation and it’s with some degree of sadness that I accept it,” Cloy said during the meeting. “Tim has been on the board for quite a while now and made a fantastic contribution. It’s going to be difficult to come up here without you being here.”

Jacobs’ resignation is effective Dec. 31. The board later met in closed session, but no action was taken regarding who will fill the remainder of Jacobs’ term.

“It’s just one of those things where when it’s time to move on to other things it’s time, and it’s a good time because things are going well at Brownwood ISD,” Jacobs said. “I’ve enjoyed working with Dr. Joe Young, Michael Cloy and the rest of the board. It’s been an honor and privilege. It’s a really good, cohesive board now. I feel like we’re effective, I feel like we have the school’s best interest at heart.”

Jacobs also spoke of the most rewarding aspect of serving on the board for a dozen years.

“Watching children excel, watching children grow,” Jacobs said. “Each board meeting we have a chance to look at kids who have done well in certain areas and they’re highlighted and we get to see them. That’s the best part, seeing the kids do well.”

Speaking to fellow board members during the meeting, Jacobs said, “I appreciate all of you and working with all of you. You guys have made it good, and Joe and Michael, you’ve made it better, so thank you.”
