Ruben Rodriquez, Jr., age 56, of Lawn, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center South in Abilene.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Emmett Corker, pastor at Northridge Baptist Church in San Angelo, officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Cove Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Ruben Perez Rodriquez, Jr. on August 10, 1965, in Andrews, Texas to Ruben Ponce Rodriquez, Sr. and Bisenta Perez Rodriquez. Ruben grew up in Andrews where he graduated from Andrews High School. He married Tamara “Tammie” Martin in 1987 in Andrews. Ruben moved to Coleman in 1999 from Andrews, then moved to Tuscola and Lawn. He worked for Lauren Engineering, known as Samuel Engineering, as a welding inspector.

Ruben had a love for life. He enjoyed each day spreading sunshine and joy to those around him. Ruben loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He enjoyed being outdoors fishing, camping, and building BBQ pits. Ruben loved cooking outside for his family and preparing meals on the pits that he built. He watched every John Wayne movie that was produced and could quote any line from the movies. Ruben loved the Lord and attended First Baptist Church in Lawn. He will be missed.

Ruben is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Bisenta Rodriquez; one brother, Mike Rodriquez; and two sisters, Ida Mobley and Virginia Rey.

He is survived by his wife, Tamara “Tammie” Rodriquez of Lawn; his children, Chelsea Gillett and husband Ken of San Angelo, Christa Rodriquez of Abilene, Carissa Rodriquez of San Angelo, Christopher Adam Rodriquez of Abilene, Andrew Rodriquez and wife Melissa of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Aiden James Garcia of Lawn, and Ryan Anthony Garcia of Abilene; ten grandchildren, Kenneth Gillett, Jr., Drake Gillett, Aviah Gillett, Zariah Gillett, Alex Gillett, Williow Gillett, Rayo Gillett, Malachi Gillett, Temperance Rodriquez, August Olvia Rodriquez; three brothers, Ross Rodriquez of San Angelo, Ricardo Rodriquez and wife Terry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Charlie Rodriquez of Andrews; and one sister, Mary Diaz and husband Stan of Andrews.
