Marjorie Crain, age 92, of Coleman, died December 9, 2021, at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Marjorie Ruth Bowers on May 11, 1929, in Coleman to John Bowers and Claudia Smith Bowers. Marjorie grew up in Coleman where she attended school. She married George B. Crain on September 5, 1950, in Mexico. Marjorie and George resided in Del Rio and Cotulla, Texas before moving back to Coleman.

Marjorie worked as a bus driver and worked in the school cafeteria while living in Cotulla. She also worked as a foster grandparent at the Abilene State School and worked in the cafeteria at General Dynamics. Marjorie was a gifted artist. She enjoyed painting and created many beautiful pieces. She could look at an ordinary object and automatically see an artistic version that nobody else could see. Her creativity of hats will never be forgotten by her friends and family. She was loved by her family and friends and will be missed.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Claudia Bowers; her husband, George B. Crain; her siblings, Mary Leo Massey, John Henry Bowers, Jr., Foster Bowers, Floyd Bowers, and Rodger Bowers; and one grandson, Chris Crain.

She is survived by her children, John Edward Crain of D’Hanis, Malcolm Warner “Bubba” Crain of Coleman, Jeffery Allen Crain of Cotulla, Robert Franklin “Smokey” Crain of Hydro, Oklahoma, Georgeanna Chevis of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Weida Crain of Coleman; her sisters, Gerry Mitchell of Freeport, Claudia Jean Spears of Angleton, and Patricia Smith Morrison of Needville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials in memory of Marjorie to the Holiday Hill Nursing Home and Allen Center, P.O. Box 392, Coleman, Texas 76834.

Remembrances and condolences can be written to the family via the virtual guestbook at www.stevensfuneralhome.com. Stevens Funeral Home is honored to serve the Crain family.
