Class 2A No. 16 Tolar surges past Lions, 70-67, to open Dublin tournament

DUBLIN – The Brownwood Lions were outscored 23-15 during the fourth period as the Class 2A No. 16 Tolar Rattlers rallied for a 70-67 victory Thursday to kick off Dublin basketball tournament action.

The Lions (2-3) led 21-11 after one quarter, 42-32 at halftime and 52-47 after three periods of play.

Brownwood was sparked by 21 points from Bryson Monroe, 16 from Luke Moss, 13 from Christian Kinzler, nine from Jakob Hataway, three from Thad Hinds, two each from Hayden Noe and Tristan Salinas, and one point from Ike Hall.

Tolar (4-0) received 19 points from Reis Brown, 15 from Grady McQuain, 13 from Austin McGowin, 12 from Cade Moody

The Lions will be back in action at 8 p.m. tonight against tournament host Dublin (1-1).
