Curtis Weldon Murphy

Curtis Weldon Murphy, age 74, of Lake Brownwood passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Hendricks Hospice Care in Abilene.

Curtis was born on April 3, 1947, to Basil Truman Murphy and Marjorie (Easterling) Murphy in Haskell, Texas. He graduated from Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1966. He met and married Sandra Gaines on June 10, 1966. He got his associates degree in Hobbs, New Mexico. Curtis joined the Air Force in 1966 and was deployed to Vietnam. He was a paint and body man for 40 years. He lived at Lake Brownwood for the last 27 years.

Curtis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Murphy; daughter, Patricia Sharrer; son, Chad Murphy and his wife Crystal; 2 grandsons, Dakota Sharrer and his wife Gema, Jessie Sharrer and his wife Jasmine. Curtis was blessed with 4 great-grandchildren, Allina and Murphy Sharrer, Loralyie and Lizzy Sharrer. He is also survived by a brother, Truman Murphy and his wife Sharon; along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Murphy and Marjorie Dunlap; brother, Rodger Dale Murphy; a daughter, Samantha Murphy; and son-in-law, Brian Sharrer.

Celebration of Life with Military Honors for Curtis will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Couch officiating; interment private at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations sent to Hendrick Hospice Care (1651 Pine St. Abilene, Texas 79601) in memory of Curtis Murphy. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com.
