Mr. Malouf’s Boot Shop, which is preserved inside the Brown County Museum of History, will be the setting for visitors to experience hand-tooling on leather. “It is a great opportunity to walk through the boot shop, learn about the craft of boot making and working with leather,” says Event Chair Gayle McNeill.  “Everyone participating will have a chance to hand-tool a keepsake leather ornament to take home.”

Mr. Albert J. Malouf and his family owned and operated their boot shop and leather repair business for roughly forty years in Brownwood, starting in 1938. The tools and equipment were carefully relocated to the Museum of History after being on display at the Grace Museum in Abilene, and are now on exhibit here.  “This is a wonderful part of Brown County history –it’s exciting that it is back in the community,” stated exhibit planner Beverly Norris.

Admission to the event also includes self-guided tours of all exhibits in the Main Building and Old Jail, a scavenger hunt for families, and a ‘Letters to Santa’ station, with free apple cider outside next to the vintage pickup decorated for Christmas.  “It will be the perfect place to take your family holiday photos!” says Museum Coordinator Kyndall Howard.

The event will take place Saturday November 27, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 4p.m. Admission is only $8 for adults, $5 for kids, and free for three and under.
For more information call 325-641-1926. The Brown County Museum of History is located at 209 N. Broadway in Brownwood.
