Wayland Reese

Wayland Mouzon Reese, 87, of Bangs, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021. A visitation with family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Heartland Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Cox cemetery in McCulloch County.

Wayland was born September 30th, 1934 in Valera, Coleman County, Texas to Mouzon and Lorene Reese. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather. He worked for the railroad for many years, did welding and drove truck for Thornhill Trucking of Brownwood. Wayland married Marjorie Stephens and enjoyed many good times with her and her children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces that he adopted as his own. He enjoyed cookouts, chatting with friends and Wayland adored all his grandkids. He also raised many a feathered and furried friend. He always had a passion for riding motorcycles, it was in his blood and a life long passion that he enjoyed. Wayland said his pleasure was joy riding and he lived life to its fullest. Wayland was loved and will be missed.

Wayland is survived by his step children, Jeff Stephens and wife, Diane of Bangs; daughter, Mary Hammer; His best friend and caretaker, James Bassett, of Bangs; grandkids, Gary Stephens Jr., Mary Stephens, Dion Meyers, Colt Hammer, Amanda, Paula, Jeff Jr. and Christeena Stephens; 20 great grandkids, 6, great-great grandkids and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Wayland was preceded in death by his beloved wife; Step son, Gary Stephens and son-in-law, Charles Hammer.
