Lady Lions finish second at Hamilton tournament, fall to Glen Rose, 48-21

HAMILTON – The Brownwood Lady Lions’ six-game win streak to start the season ended Saturday morning with a 48-21 loss to District 6-4A rival Glen Rose in the Hamilton tournament championship game.

Brownwood (6-1) trailed 15-5 after one quarter, 29-8 at halftime, and 38-14 through three quarters.

Jaylen Savage finished with six points for the Lady Lions, trailed by four from all-tournament team member Kynslee Walker, three each from Mady Pyle, Kassidy Wooten and Tessa Goodwin, and two points from Alexa Arreola.

No. 17 Glen Rose (8-0) was sparked by 13 points from Lily Melton and 10 from Samantha Ellenburger.

The Lady Lions will face Mildred at 1 p.m. Monday in Glen Rose, then host Rogers at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Also, the Freshman Lady Lions went undefeated at the Hamilton tournament with wins over Mineral Wells (45-10), Glen Rose (25-12), and Comanche (44-22).
