Carl H. Langford

Carl H. Langford, age 84, of Santa Anna, Texas surrounded by his loving family, passed from this life to the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 7:50 am at his residence.

Services will be Tuesday at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church with Bro. David McLean and Bro. John Stanislaw officiating.  Interment will follow at the Santa Anna Cemetery with services under the care of Henderson Funeral Home staff.  The family will receive friends for visitation Monday from 5:00 till 6:30 pm at Henderson Funeral Home Santa Anna. 

He was born Carl Henry Langford on August 4, 1937 in Carbon, Texas to Claude Franklin and Opal Marie Wallace Langford.  Carl was raised in Santa Anna graduating from Santa Anna High School in 1955.  On July 8, 1956 he married the love of his life and soulmate Sandra Jean Bouchillon in Santa Anna and they celebrated 65 years of marriage Carl served our country with the United State Air Force receiving an honorable discharge in 1961. 

Carl was employed with Texas Instruments from 1965 till 1992 as an environmental tester.  Upon his retirement he moved back to Santa Anna where he was an active member of the First Baptist Church. After retirement he used his abilities to reuse old farm equipment to make lighthouses, windmills and miscellaneous items. A gifted historical writer he was a member of the Brownwood Genealogy Club and wrote “From the Grave” for 12 years in the Coleman Chronicle.  He recognized our veterans for Memorial and Veterans Day by placing flags in The Santa Anna and Coleman Cemeteries. He found and marked unmarked graves so none were forgotten.  He was a fighter and survivor twice of Leukemia.

Carl had his multi engine and commercial pilot license and built his own plane which he enjoyed and flew many places.  The family still houses his plane which is a Michell wing ultralight plane.  Brownwood Library will soon be publishing a 3 volume book “Stories Told Thru the Eyes of Carl Langford” which will be in libraries around the area.

Survivors include Wife – Jean Langford of Santa Anna, Texas; 3 Daughters – Pam & husband Loren Zehr of Newport News, VA, Cindy Langford of Santa Anna, Texas, Donna and husband Kevin McCarthy of Santa Anna, Texas; Sister – Janice & late husband Edwin Hipsher Santa Anna, Texas; Brother – Wayne & wife Ann Langford of Santa Anna, Texas; Sister-in-law – Marsha Langford of Abilene, Texas; 6 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bobby Langford in 2004.
