Tommy Erving Sears and Karen Ruth (Burton) Sears left this world together on Monday, October 25, 2021, in a car accident. While their absence leaves a void in the lives of their families, we take comfort in knowing they are at peace in Heaven with the family members and other loved ones who went before them.

They were married on February 4, 1977, and were long-time residents of Zephyr, Texas. Both were retired teachers of Brownwood ISD. They were living in Broken Bow, Oklahoma at the time of their deaths.

Tom, a disabled veteran, loving son, husband, father, and brother was born July 27, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.A. and Lela Sears of Zephyr, Texas. He is survived by his two sons, Thomas and Scott Sears of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; his daughter, Laurie Lee Rhine of Southlake, Texas; and a sister, Lanell Sears Pulliam and her husband, Charles Pulliam of May, Texas.

Karen, loving daughter, wife, mother, and sister was born November 18, 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Evelyn Burton of Snyder, Texas. She is survived by her two sons, Thomas and Scott Sears; her brother, Tim Burton and his wife, Mary Kitchens Burton, of Snyder, Texas; and her sister, Cindy Burton Beck and her husband, Don Beck, of Antlers, Oklahoma.

We commend them into the loving arms of God where they may find eternal peace.

Services for Tom and Karen will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Jeter officiating; private interment of their ashes will be held at the Zephyr Cemetery in Zephyr, Texas.  Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood. Online condolences for the family are welcome at www.blaylockfuneralhome.
